Our Core Beliefs
In order to identify Deep Well Ministry as Biblical in our theology and evangelical in the spirit of our declaration, we have set forth the following as our statement of faith:
Concerning God:
The Holy Godhead: We believe that there is one God, eternally existent in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. (Deuteronomy 6:6, First Timothy 2:3-7, Jude 20-21)
Christ our Redeemer: We believe in both the deity and the humanity of our Lord Jesus Christ, in his virgin birth, in his sinless life, in his miracles, in his vicarious and atoning death through his shed blood, in his bodily resurrection, in his ascension to the right hand of the Father, in his present intercessory work, and in his future return in power and glory. (John 1:1-14, First Corinthians 15:1-20, First Timothy 3:16)
The Holy Spirit our Sustainer: We believe that regeneration by the Holy Spirit is essential for the salvation of lost and sinful men. (First Corinthians 12:3, Ephesians 1:13-14, Titus 3:5-7)
Concerning Jesus:
He lived a life of perfect obedience to the Father and voluntarily atoned for the sins of all by dying on the cross as their substitute, according to the Scriptures. Thus, He satisfied divine justice and accomplished salvation for all who trust in Him alone. (Heb. 4:14-16, Heb. 10:5-18)
He rose from the dead in the same body, though glorified, in which He lived and died. He ascended into heaven and sat down at the right hand of the Father, where He, the only Mediator between God and Man, continually makes intercession for His own. He shall come again to earth, personally and visibly, to consummate history and the eternal plan of God. (Luke 24, 1 Tim. 2:5-6, Heb. 7:23-25, Acts 1:11, 1 Thes. 4:13-18)
Concerning the Holy Spirit:
The Holy Spirit, the third person of the Trinity, was sent into the world by the Father and the Son to apply to mankind the saving work of Christ. He enlightens the mind of sinners, awakens in them recognition of their need of a Savior, and regenerates them. (John 3:5-8, John 16:7-15)
At the point of salvation, He permanently indwells every believer to become the source of assurance, strength, and wisdom, and uniquely endows each believer with gifts for the building up of His people. The Holy Spirit guides believers in understanding and applying the Scriptures. His power and control are appropriated by faith, making it possible for the believer to lead a life of Christ-like character and to bear fruit to the glory of the Father. ( John 14:16-18, 1 Cor. 12:13, Gal. 5:22-25, Eph. 1:13-14, Eph. 5:18)
Concerning the Bible:
We believe the Bible to be the only inspired, infallible, authoritative Word of God. (Luke 24:44-49, II Timothy 3:16-17, II Peter 1:20-21)
The sole basis of our belief is the Bible, composed of the 66 books of the Old and New Testaments. We believe that Scripture in its entirety originated with God, and that it was given through the instrumentality of chosen men. Scripture thus, at one and the same time, speaks with the authority of God and reflects the backgrounds, styles, and vocabularies of the human authors. They are the unique, full and final authority on all matters of faith and practice. (2 Tim. 3:16-17, 1 Peter 1:10-12, 2 Peter 1:20-21, Matt. 5:17-20)
Concerning Salvation:
We believe that all people were meant to have a perfect communion with God but sin ruined that relationship. The only way for a person to be restored to that right relationship is through the saving power of Jesus Christ. Without this, a person will be eternally separated from God and spend eternity in Hell. We believe that salvation is based on Christ's work and not on a person’s effort. Everyone must personally accept this gift of grace through confession, repentance, and commitment to Christ as Savior.
Concerning Justification and Sanctification:
We believe that when a person receives the gift of Jesus Christ in his life and turns over control of his life to Jesus, God sees him differently. He sees him "as though he has no sin" and as righteous and pure and worthy to spend his eternity in heaven in the presence of God. This is called justification, and the Bible clearly states that we are justified through a relationship with Jesus Christ.
From a human perspective, a person still sins after committing his life to Christ. The goal of every believer should be to become conformed to the image of Christ. This act of becoming more and more conformed to Jesus is called sanctification and is a life-long process of obedience and growth. The goal of every believer should be to sin less and less as he matures in his faith.
